Food Resources

The Blazer Pantry is the campus food pantry available to all faculty, staff, and students experiencing food insecurity. Food insecurity is defined as those with uncertain access to nutritious and safe food because of a lack of money and resources.

Location: Browning Building #103

Summer Hours:

• Tuesday: 12pm – 5pm
• Wednesday: 11am – 4pm
• Thursday: 12pm – 5pm

Alternate Hours: If other arrangements are needed to pick up food please schedule an appointment by emailing foodpantry@utahtech.edu.

Fresh Food:  Fresh food orders are available by appointment. Please email foodpantry@utahtech.edu for appointments.

Drop In Services: Proceed to the pantry during normal operating hours in office #103. If #103 is locked, visit the Student Resource Center staff in offices #106 or #107. Please do not ask other offices for access to the food pantry.

The Student Resource Center advocates for a campus community that actively nurtures the physical, intellectual, social, and personal development of its student body. To assist students with their academic journey, the Student Resource Center connects students to physical resources such as the campus food pantry, clothing closet, and child care. Additional services are available for first generation and non-traditional students.

• Blazer Pantry: The on campus food pantry available to faculty, staff, and students experiencing food insecurity. The purpose of the Food Pantry is to decrease student food insecurity, increase healthy eating choices, and help improve student retention.
• Clothing Closet: New to campus this year is the Clothing Closet. The purpose of this resource is to assist in providing basic necessities for students. Access to the Clothing Closet is through the Student Resource Center at 435-879-4489 or dru.bottoms@utahtech.edu or office #106.
• To assist students with access to financial resources, the Student Resource Center is available to help students apply for WIC and SNAP benefits.
• Come & Get It: Supports students by providing free food and reducing food waste on campus. Students can opt in to this service to receive text messages when extra meals are available from catered events on campus. Please click HERE to register for this service.

Utah Food Bank’s Mobile Pantries provide support to Utahns living in areas that are classified as food deserts or are inaccessible or underserved by traditional food pantries. Many Utahns live in areas classified as food deserts, areas where residents don’t have healthy, affordable food stores near them and lack sufficient transportation to get to the nearest stores. Often, the few food resources available often lack nutrition (such as fast-food restaurants) or are over-priced and under-nutritious (such as convenience stores). This service is available to all in the community free of charge. Click HERE for update to date locations/times. Normal drive up services are as follows:

First Thursday of the month:  8:30am – 10:00am or while supplies last, 121 Tabernacle St, St. George, UT 84770

Forth Thursday of the month: 8:30am – 10:00am or while supplies last, 350 Community Center Drive, Washington, UT 84780 (Washington Rec Center)

SNAP Benefits

The Come & Get It program is a resource to support students while reducing food waste across campus.  This is a free service allowing students to receive a text notification when extra meals are available from catered events on campus. Opt in to receive messages through the MyUT app.
